Why use a buyer persona template

Most personas end up as a stock photo and a list of interests that change nothing. This template asks for information that shapes marketing decisions: the situation that triggers a search, the questions asked at each stage, the objections that stall a deal, the alternatives considered, the people who influence or sign off, and the words customers actually use. A short section covers where they spend attention online.

Fill it from evidence: interview five to eight recent customers, talk to sales and support, and check search queries and reviews. Keep it to two or three personas that genuinely differ in how they buy. Revisit them yearly or after a major product change.

Teams usually use it before planning content, rewriting a website or briefing ads.

How many buyer personas should a business have?
Usually two or three. Each should differ in how they buy, beyond who they are. Too many personas spread effort thin and get ignored. If two personas would get the same messaging, merge them.
Where does persona information come from?
From customer interviews, sales and support teams, CRM data, reviews and search queries. Assumptions from a workshop are a starting point, but personas built on real conversations are far more useful.
