Glossary

This glossary explains the marketing, SEO, AI, CRM and analytics terms that come up in our work, in plain English. Each entry covers what the term means, how it is used and why it matters to a business owner.

Overview

Glossary

Our industry loves acronyms. CAC, ROAS, LTV, CTR, LCP, RAG, ETL: proposals and reports are full of them, and business owners often nod along without being sure what they mean. That makes it harder to question an agency's recommendations or compare options properly.

Each glossary entry gives a short definition, a practical example and notes on how the term relates to decisions you might make. Where a metric is involved, we explain how it is calculated and what can distort it. Terms are linked to related entries and to the services or problems where they matter most, so you can move from a definition to how it applies to your business.

Search or browse alphabetically. If a term you need is missing, tell us and we will add it.

FAQ

Questions we often hear

Straight answers to the things clients ask us most. If yours isn’t here, just ask.

What is the difference between ROAS and ROI?
ROAS measures revenue earned per rupee of ad spend. ROI measures profit after all costs, including product, fulfilment and fees. A campaign can show strong ROAS and still lose money, which is why ROI or contribution margin is the better test.
What does CAC mean in marketing?
CAC stands for customer acquisition cost: the total sales and marketing spend in a period divided by the number of new customers won. Comparing CAC with customer lifetime value shows whether growth is profitable.
Can Nians combine several resources in one engagement?
Yes, and most clients do. One strategist coordinates the work, so you get one plan, one team and one report.
Do you work with businesses outside India?
Yes. We work with brands in India and abroad, across time zones.
